What makes me unique?

I am a licensed RN, a lifelong learner in the area of wellness and brain-body pathways, and a spirit filled lover of the Most High God who made us!!!

Most recently I worked as a staff nurse on a busy level 1 trauma/stroke center ICU, and have almost 30 years researching and integrating complimentary and alternative medicine, natural remedies, and holistic therapies.

My initial interest came after a challenging personal diagnosis in 1985. I found myself in the midst of a process and biomedical model that seemed to fight my understanding of well being – spirit, soul, and body – and spurn my desire be well, not just manage a disease.  This continued through 1998, during which time I dug deeper into the science and began applying various practices into my own life and others.

Personally, I trained in massage and other bodywork and energy therapies, emotional healing techniques, homeopathy, herbal remedies, oils and more.  I worked at a health food store and with an integrated medicine clinic, while participating in courses and training at various health institutes.  During this time I kept my personal fitness training certifications and other continuing education requirements current, and most recently received a Holistic Health Advisor (HHA) certification and am an active leader in our local American Holistic Nurse Association (AHNA).

Upon my return to school for my BSN I earned a spot in the honors program, was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, graduated Cumae Sum Laud, completed UHC/AACN Nurse Residency Program and presented on a panels. I also focused studies on Gerontology and Palliative Care in hopes of assisting the generations navigate difficult life (and death) conversations and contribute to a continuity of care over a lifetime.  I also have experience in Labor & Delivery, Childbirth Education, and Home Health.

My education also includes a BS in Psychology (1992), with a focus on community and social issues.  I served and studied various cultures, locally and internationally, with a heart for the underserved and those facing health disparities. The context for much of what makes up my practice comes the Hebraic perspective of Scripture and the concept of cycles and seasons.

I have organized and been part of the education, leadership, and outreach components of training schools.  I served as an Ambassador to Israel and Africa, participated in many dozens of outreaches and disaster response efforts, and have co-labored to develop alliances for humanitarian projects and networking resources.  Most recently I lived abroad for almost 8 years, until the Spring of 2011, when I returned stateside to shore up licenses to further my clinical practice in the arena…

…to serve you!
